I am not quite sure just when I 'signed up' but I have to admit, that... at one point I was more than somewhat less than comfortable with some of the behaviour and seemingly 'less than respectful' attitudes of a few who seemed to have the attitude that 'while they may not always be 'right'... they were never 'wrong'. I viewed this attitude as one that was becoming much more common on some of the 'other early lists', and one with which I was becoming less than comfortable…. a condition that had also become less than acceptable in the last few years in my position as a 'specialist' in my position 'at work'.. and I was approaching what felt like 'burnout' due to long hours and the "I gotta have it now" demands for service… Shortly after, there were an increasing number of immediate "in your face" replies to some questions posed by members needing information.. and there seemed to be (on a few occasions) an increasing number of disrespectful replies that must have been more than discouraging to the originator. Since that time, I have usually taken a minimum of 24 hours of 'contemplation' before 'replying' to anything… (unless it is marked "Urgent") I started my career under the watchful eye of a semi-retired 'Master Photographer' some 60+ years ago… (a 'tutor' who was both understanding and patient.. and allowed me to do my best to 'learn from my mistakes'). Since my retirement, I have been more than busy pursuing my un-needed BFA as a means of staying out of the rocking chair and 'away' from daytime television (a challenge offered by my somewhat over-educated daughter). I have taken the occasional opportunity to 'deny' the 'death of film'… and the 'acquision of the required craft' with a few university professors. I am now at the age of where I consider know-it-all instructors and 'list-boors' somewhat pathetic… and worthy of ignoring…. but will often 'reply' to a request for infor- mation or 'help' privately, rather than see a 'war' of differing opinions on the list. On more than one occasion, I have admired Andy's ability to 'stay in the background' when this seemingly immature behaviour raises its ugly head…. Thank you Sir Andrew.
