The problem of digital backs for SLRS cameras is one of economics, primarily, and technical difficulty, secondarily.
Why build an interchangeable back for nearly the same price when a film body will be worn out in professional use in just a few years - that's the economics Issue.

The technical issue means having to cope with integration and all that dust.

You’ll be waiting a long time. In fact, perhaps forever. I discussed making a digital back for the Xpan with Hassie a few years ago in person at the factory and it’s not a simple operation and the lenses are made for curved file not flat sensors.

Why can't Nikon make a digital back for film SLRs? I still have my Nikon F4 and I'm waiting.
