D200 autofocus issue

hey gang,

My D200 autofocus is doing weird things. I've noticed, recently, that it 
sounds like gears skipping in the lens. That particular lens I had 
repaired for actual damage issues, so I thought it was just a poor 
repair job. But then another lens started acting up. So, I tried both 
lenses on my D300s and they work fine there. So, the culrpit is the D200 
body. Is there a setting that adjusts how the autofocus communicates 
with the lens motor? Do I need to clean the contacts (with what)? I fear 
that I'm just damaging the lenses using autofocus on this camera.
