Not sure if this is relevant, but the Lightroom keywords appear in Photoshop file information section if you export them with the export lightroom keywords box ticked. Multiple keywords are exported separated by a semi-colon.

I assume the keywords are embedded in each image file, not in some
remote database that Lightroom creates. If they're not, they sure
ought to be.

If they are, then LR will just reconstruct the keyword display when
you point it at the new drive.
