Re: external hard drives

I purchase a usb enabled case from a computer repair/build shop in town. It’s an IMicro 2.5” IDE HDD External Enclosure. My HDD from a Toshiba Laptop that was about six years old fit perfectly. It is now a portable mini hard drive that connects with a standard USB to USB cable.

I saved everything from the drive when the main controller for the laptop failed and I thought everything was lost. It shows up in the directory of my new laptop like any external drive.

So if I have a MacMini that seems to have bit the dust I might be able to disassemble and place or connect drive elsewhere and recover/rescue stuff on it??? Or even operate from it??

I have saved several laptop HDD that way. Pull them out, buy a USB case and now instant mini drives.
