Jim Snarski - Industrious Seems to me the major flaw with the image is the overall soft focus. Somehow I expect that at least the bee ought to be sharper, as well as at least some of the flowers. The great detail of the caption is really of more interest than the picture itself. Rene M Hales - Toby This charming portrait of a dog named Toby is ruined by the contrived and unnecessary border, as well as by the odd lack of contrast and bluish hue of the lower portion. I'd usually argue that any distracting element, such as that running shoe, ought to be avoided, but in this case it gives the pleasant impression of being in a room that's actually lived in. Dan Mitchell - Middlethorpe Hall What's the point of using an iPhone to produce a fuzzy image of architecture on a bright sunlit day? Trevor Cunningham - washington square park I'd say more weird than cheesy. Actually this makes my PTSD kick in, taking me back to when I was a press photographer on assignment at the naval station at Lakehurst, N.J. I won't ever forget the words of Herbert Morrison, the reporter who accompanied me. "Get this Charley! Get this Charley! It’s burning and it's crashing! It's crashing terrible! Oh my, get out of the way please. It's burning, bursting into flames and it's -- and it's falling on the mooring mast...Oh, the humanity and all the passengers screaming around here." Yoram Gelman - Croton Dam -- April 2011-- II A picture of a stunning picture is generally not stunning at all, and the whole exercise becomes more about materials and technique than pictorial representation. The dam and churning water becomes subordinate to the contrived framing and the pretentious signature. Sherie Taylor - Read I'd crop in much tighter to reduce or eliminate the overexposed background. Marilyn Dalrymple - Just One of the Gang. This is why I love cats. They just don't care. And Chubby Cheekers is not amused.
