Tina,

Thanks for the info on Exposure 3, I'll look at it.

I did some comparative conversions using LR and Silver Efex Pro 2 and don't see a whole gob of difference between the prints with either one.

After working with LR for several years then trying SEP2 I find the interface a bit clunky by comparison. I suppose it just depends on what you get used to.

Yes, you can add grain in Silver Efex and yes, there are many presets available for LR...I've tried several and like most things some are good, some not for me.

I do appreciate the input on this.

With Silver Efex Pro you get lots of presets with different looks - like infrared or sepia - and you have the U-point that Nik uses for individual adjustments.  It's faster and easier than Lightroom; however, I've used both Silver Efex Pro 2 and Alien Skin's Exposure 3.  I find that I use Exposure 3 much more often.  With ASE3, you can choose actual films like Tri-X or Scala and you get the look of that film complete with grain.  It's really, really good.  It's faster, easier and better than LR.

Hope this helps.

Can any of you speak to the difference in bw conversion using SEP2 vs Lightroom.

Can I achieve results with it that are different, faster, better than what I can do in Lightroom?

I appreciate input from those using it.
