I have software on my computer that will decode all DVDs that are PAL or NTSC--I haven't tried SECAM.  It's XBMC.

Recently I have been enjoying reading the book in conjunction with watching the videos.  Bought both from the BBC bookshop, UK.  http://www.bbcshop.com/page/home/
 
Not sure it is available there for the US TV zone.  My copy is for UK & Australia.
