Well a few things to think about. What ever you do, don't buy another 30d now. There are better options at a price that shouldn't be that awful. If you can deal with the price of a few Rebel, you have options.
There is used, and there is used. Look at keh.com out of Atlanta. Honest people and the stand behind what they sell and I believe have a 14 day no questions asked return policy. The problem you are going to have with the new Rebels is speed. I used a 50D and I look at it this way. Is there really that much difference 90% of the time between 15 and 17 mp?? The Rebel is 3 vs 5 to 10 fps and that may not sound like a lot, but at times it is a big help. Depending on what you do that speed may be a deciding factor.
The Rebel will have video, but I can't help you with that. I have no interest in video at all. KEH also usually has a great selection of lenses as well. Good luck and hope that the experience will at least have you with better gear than you would have had otherwise.

Hi Gang...........
Well it finally happened.
I got robbed.
Came home Friday night and found
that someone had came into my apartment
and stole a flat screen TV out of my home office,
two of my many guitars and my camera bag.
In the bag was Canon 30d and 10d bodies.
A few zoom lenses including a Tamron 18mm-270mm
with IS a couple of flash units and my Kenko flash meter.
And the usual odds and ends.
I was not insured.
(lets not get into that)
Now I do Photography Professionally,
but as a side line to my regular job as
a manager at the local Lowes.
Due to many recent bills money is tight.
Until I can on a slightly better monetary footing
I am trying to decide weather to buy a used
Canon 30d body and a new or used Tamron 18-270
or go with one of the Rebel outfits.
I am also looking for a recommendation
on a Flash Unit...........
I had a Sigma 530 DG Super
and maybe it was me, but I never
got consistent exposure with it.
I don't need a flash that will light up
a banquet hall, just a moderate RELIABLE
flash.
