    I know the Rebel's are a step down build and feature wise from the
    XXd bodies, but it would be a good time to step up in the resolution
    and higher ISO performance the modern bodies give you.

        I had a Sigma 530 DG Super

        and maybe it was me, but I never

        got consistent  exposure with it.

      
    I don't know of any flash unit that will be 100%
      reliable.  Battery strength and too many exposure variables to
      count make it hard to get frame to frame accuracy.  Like at my
      wedding tonight, I'd get a good first exposure, but I would fire
      again before I recycled.  I personally would stay with a Canon
      flash (being a Nikon guy I'm not going to guess at which model).
