    I just recently read a short piece on this technology. It says, in part.........The German-made Raytrix R11 is the first mass-produced plenoptic camera available in the U.S..................Such flexibility comes at a cost. The R11's final image resolution is only three megapixels, and video runs at six frames per second--pretty shabby given the camera's $30,000 price tag.
 
    Maybe if we all bought two, the price would come down and the resolution would go up. :-)

So what do you all know about light field photography?  My first exposure to it was a link on the Canon G12 group.  Wall Street Journal had an article about this and Stanford has been researching it.  There is now a company, Lytro, promising a pocketable camera utilizing the technology.  I will add the appropriate links:
