Lea Murphy - Coffee with Lauren
In this picture, I see a lovely young person who is obviously enjoying the
company of someone.
The two coffee cups indicate a casual time spent together. The photographer
wants to know if the cups should be cropped -- no, leave them in as they
provide the context of the story. Lovely lighting - kind of like Rembrandt
but a little softer as appropriate for this image.

             Emily Ferguson - Tea cup
This is a lonely place. Colorful chairs contrasting with the snow and ice.
The teacup is a reminder of things past and future when the warm spring will
come again.

             Jim Snarski - Great Blue
A technically excellent photograph of the heron in flight. I see an optical
illusion in that the right wing seems to be seen from the bottom although,
in context, it clearly is seen from above. Mask off the rest of the bird
and just look at the right wing.

             Katarina Kitaeva -
This is a dark and gloomy place in mid-winter. The trees are bare as if
dead waiting for the resurrection of the spring. Fog drifts off the water
rising to cover the bridge and make it disappear. Life has gone to ground,
waiting, waiting.

             John Palcewski - Winter Blue
The photographer has got it exactly right. All the shadowy areas in the
image are blue on white not grey on white as they reflect the blues of the
sky. The image is slightly off vertical - perhaps a hint the something is
different?

             Trevor Cunningham - grandfather
Beautiful, traditional Rembrandt lighting - wish I could do that reliably
<sigh> - there is sadness here perhaps grandpa is wishing his grandson
goodbye after a too-short visit.

             Yoram Gelman - Icing
A nice interaction between the shape of the twig in ice and the threatening
clouds in the background. The left-over leaves/fruit provides a nice touch
that allows the viewer to roam around the image and still be captured within
it.

Mark Harris - Kari Marie Reflected
Karie Marie is having fun with the session. She is totally comfortable in
the pose and interacts with the photographer/viewer watching her watch
herself and the camera from the reflection in the mirror.

All in all a very nice set of photographs.

James
