Dan Mitchell - Jean, Jim, & Dog

I love this photograph. The facial expressions, the hand placements, the love they have for their little dog, the contrast of the floral apron to the checkered skirt, the contrast of the long sweater sleeves on Jim to the sleeveless shirt on Jean, her in the house, him outside, no screen door, the buzzer wire, his house slippers, the grass grown up around the edges. There is something very classic to me about this image. Oh yes, it's soft, the camera clearly moved during the exposure but that doesn't matter. It's fabulous.

Emily L. Ferguson - dormitory checkerboard

Nicely seen and captured patterns. It's not something I'd hang on my wall but I do like the graphic nature of the image...it's the kind of thing I look for when I'm out walking with my camera.

Sherie Taylor - All dress up and no place to go

This falls under the 'it is what it is' category to me.

        Katarina Kitaeva - Apocalypse

Katerina, so sorry to hear of the bombing the airport in your country. The pose, colors and composition of your image work together to make it quite haunting. The red (blood?) on the mask is particularly bothersome. The everyday dress combined with the mask, the beakers, the arm wound, the fingers that tell you this is a young woman and the surreal colors on the wall make this photograph eerie.

        Lea Murphy - Dr. Phil

Besides being a friend, Phil is an avid photographer. I took this photograph of him as part of a series of photos done that same day to show him the difference between f/1.2, 2.8 and 4. I am very glad to have taken it as it captures him quite well.

Christopher Strevens - Budapest in January

This could be Kansas City or almost anywhere else for that matter. It's dreary, cold and lonely looking.

        Don Roberts - Sanjusangen-do Hallway

What I like best about this image is the fact that you captured the ray of light cutting diagonally across the frame. I'm interested in all the lines going this way and that in the image.

John Palcewski - Horse and Rider

Two seconds earlier or later and this might have been a more pleasing image to me. Why is her hand up? The horse's head blends into the shadow side and makes it hard to tell what's what.
