The pine tree in one of the shots that was used to speculate about the
clouds being similar looks to me to be quite different in detail
(granting the different lens FL's). Enlarged details would nail that
down as would the snow patterns. They would have to be identcal if they
were made on the same day. Perhaps a diary or other notes (other than
the envelopes in question) could confirm the dates he was in the area.
I have seen examples of AA's early work in the area and there were
washed out snow highlights and muddy blacks. One would think any
sensible photographer would bracket shots.
