All,
Here are a few semi-random thoughts based on
comments, good or bad, made since my photograph of Jordana was included in the
Gallery.
Jordana has been an art nude model for many years.
She and I have portfolios on both One Model Place and Model Mayhem. This image
is included in both of those portfolios of mine, on Flickr, photo.net and
Art Scuttlebutt with no problems. I have a folder on my web site with many more
photographs of her, some clothed, others nude and others that some of you might
find more objectionable. She has seen them all and in interested in working with
me again. She was paid for her time in what was a private session that I did
primarily to expand my portfolio and partially to see that I could do a three
hour session with one model and be able to come away with some interesting
images.
Many others, artist friends mostly, have seen
this, and other similar images, and feel they are some of my strongest
work.
I am strongly against censorship and would have
pulled the photograph before cropping it.
I agree that it would have been nice if she had
pubic hair. She, and many other Internet nude models, are clean shaven. I have a
session with one the end of May who does not shave and hope we get some strong
sun so I can try this concept with her. I booked a studio that gets direct sun
at the time we will be shooting because of that.
I like the strong shadows and wish I had made them
deeper. My biggest regret is that I did not move the furniture, I find it
distracting.
We spent much time moving her body to get the
shadows to fall like this. I do have some with her face but like this version
better. Before beginning anything I explain the concept specifically telling her
what will show. I carefully express that if she is ever uncomfortable I will
stop and move on to something else.
For those who like the image, thank you. For those
who don't because it doesn't work artistically, thank you. For those who object
to any images of the nude that display any part of the labia, I apologize for
offending you but do expect to be offended in the future, not only by me but by
many photographers.
