puritan visions of nudity being evil. Were not all puritans born nude?
Photos and other depictions of nude or partially clothed bodies
cannot be viewed as inherently good or bad in themselves opinions must be based
on issues like context and purpose. Photos intended for medical text books would
not have much point if the relevant areas of the body were draped or
clothed.
Centuries later it is impossible to know if a painter like Titian was just
'a dirty old/young man' but the judgement of history would seem to be that a
Titian nude reflected his wonder and glory that God (or Nature) could produce
such beautiful bodies as he depicted.
Full frontal - if the full body is depicted this may well be far more
acceptable than an image which seeks to centre the attention on a breast,
pudenda or phallus.
