I have a friend who is organized a Martial Arts contest for this Sunday. He asked me if I wanted to be the exclusive photographer for the day, and with more than 300 participants I accepted. So I would shoot and shoot pictures. At one point, I would trade memory card with my older son, who was to process the pictures in a computer (put the event logo and date) and crop to exact print size; then my wife would go to the lab to have the prints made and bring them back, where there would be more pictures awaiting print. While she was away, my younger son would help in the sales dept. Everyone did their part perfectly and everything went fine until the last print run, when the lab took more than an hour to deliver what would otherwise would be 20 minutes. I estimate that single error accounted for 2/3 of the profits we did *not* make. Earlier, I considered to have my own printer on the spot, but I couldn't have supplies ready. Also, my own printing is more expensive, so I wonder if I would have made any profit at all. Anyway, just wanted to share the experience, which was fun after all. Oh, and I spend about 6 hours kneeling down and then standing to rush to another court only to kneel down again, and that's the title of this email! :) Oh, the previous week my friend filmed a video for this event and I helped as still photographer. The video and some of my pictures (there was another photographer around) are in Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGDXFjS0mho After the video, there's a set of pictures, featuring ME! as the guy with a beard and backwards cap. ********************** www.alberto-tirado.com
