once you have your workspace set up exactly the way you want it, save it. There's a command somewhere (my computer's dead so I cant' recall exactly which menu it's in, but it's there). Call it Roy's workspace, and then when the windows get all messed up just select it and everything goes back to the way you customized it.
these applications are extremely powerful. Poke around in all the menus when something seems kludgy and look for the possible solution!
