RE: Well another day, another day on the phone

Well it seems to be that I was not alone.  At least I wasn't the only one surprised by this.  I had heard about Capture One, but didn't think about that as an alternative. I will check that out.  Funny when you find a workflow you like, you really don't want to change it even when you must.  Guess that happens when you reach the age that you can remember when dirt was a rock.  Yet when you get that age you are just glad you can still remember.

At some point I will upgrade Photoshop.  I got it back in the days when I could get it for not that much more than they are asking for Lightroom now.  With this upgrade I think I will have spent more in upgrades than I did for the original program.  Again that is just the way it is, and if its a new feature in the software I really don't mind.  Yet the digital age should have some backwards compatibility.  Its not like I am trying to use a 50d on version 5.0

My apologies on venting, and thanks for all the help.  Definitely some good approaches to try to see what is going to be best from here on out.

I found, to my surprise, that PS CS3 will not handle the RAW format from the Powershot G11 but PS Elements 6 and Lightroom 2 will.  Seems strange but that's Adobe, I guess.

Yeah this is a problem that grows with each new camera. The new Sony A850  doesn't have the same raw format as the Sony A900 so there is no Photoshop program at present that can handle the A850 raw format. (By the way Pop Photo article on the Sony A850 is misleading- people think the remote commander doesn't work with the A850. It does. It just doesn't come with the US official import but one can buy it for $30+ more)
