Having been a Leica nut at one time... Still dream of M8s
Now reborn.
I can't see a 24x36 mm chip with almost 40mp being much good really and
it's competing with big hitters in MF
Already the Nikon 25MP and Canon 21MP struggles to compete with the
Nikon 13 MP D700 an D3 cameras in lower light....
Just too much noise for for the signal....
The Mamiya 645 with digital back complete with lens is $2000 (20MP+)
and with good lighting will blow any 35mm DSLR away for detail and
tonality although it's also not a good low-light camera.
But what's that got to do with anything if you're a Leica nut.

The technology will hit the high street this time next year! Just sit tight.
It will soon be $1 a Mpix like hard disks. This is not the time to jump
unless you are into the top notch advertising - glamour bracket or top notch
technical.
It will be a shift away from the technical camera with sheet film and take
something from that market.
Not for the beach - yet.
By the way has anyone seen anything of 3-d (lenticular array) photography?

"Remember Leica's S-system flagship DSLR camera? We'd wager a nickel you
probably stuck this in the deep in the back of your brain after its
September 2008 debut, figuring something that boasts 37.5 megapixels and
Leica branding was gonna be just out of your budget range. Well, you were
right. The company announced that it'll be out in the UK as of October this
year, and the starting price is £15,996, or about $26,165 in US dollars.
Since you're going on the wild side anyhow, why not consider the S2-P,
which features a sapphire glass monitor screen and "Platinum Service"
support package? That'll set you back £19,092 ($31,229). Bear in mind both
those prices are for body only, and with lenses range anywhere from £3,096
to £5,160, you might as well forget about that year of salary."
