Kodachrome was the first commercially successful color film, introduced in 1935. And it was the topic of a 1973 song by Paul Simon. "It was certainly a difficult decision to retire it, given its rich history," Mary Jane Hellyar, outgoing president of Kodak's Film, Photofinishing and Entertainment Group, said in a statement. However, according to Kodak, Kodachrome now represents a fraction of 1 percent of the company's camera film sales.
