There are some really good groups like this out there, but I found you need two things to get the best from them.  A thick skin combined with a willingness to hit the delete button is first and foremost.  There is a lot of water around those pearls of wisdom that show up.

Second is persistence.  You can go through an awful lot of groups before you find the ones that are civil, treat people with respect and have something important to say.  I've learned a great deal here.
