Re: Equipment choice questions

I don't consider film at all any longer. Film will be marginilized as a "special effect" or to
a lesser extent a salon technique. Digital is the future and has been for about ten years now. I see no reason to apply
limited budgets to what has become a niche technology.

If you must have a film body there are thousands available on the used market. Everything from the 1v through the A2e are available
for as song.

The 5d vs 40d is a whole other story. The rumour control has the 5d replaced within the next month or so. We do know that
Canon has procured a new patent for the 7d which has some interesting features. No release date has been announced.

I am sure that Canon is working very hard to improve the AF functions in the 1 series cameras. I shoot the 1dMkIIn and really wanted the MkIII> But with all the AF issues I have shyed away, until Canon has it's issues well in hand.

Still to get the toughness and build of a D40 as well as the newer electronics its a big plus. I can't afford the 8K bodies. Not an option and no consideration given. The XTi is coming down so much and does most of the things. If it breaks it breaks.

I have a Minolta Kimage Scan Elite 5400 with digital ice, but the software hasn't ever been good and we know how much help Minolta is going to be now don't we.
