I agree with Mark.  Fresh installs are always better than OS upgrades.  Opinion based on 40 years of field service for IBM.......

I particularly liked the comment, "the same quantity of issues."  Moving from W95 -> W98 went well, W98 -> W2K went well, W2K -> XP went well.  Xp -> Vista went wellllllll.

I follow a computer group on Yahoo and a lot of people are staying with or going back to XP.

The operative word there being "Upgrade". If you'd done a clean install, you more than likely wouldn't have had the same quantity of issues. I did IT work for many years and never, ever had good luck with Windows upgrades from one OS to another. Running a clean install on a cleaned partition (i.e., FDISK and reformat) and then running the install seemed to work MUCH better.

Hope all are well today. Am in the lab, running clients through my study "The Influence of Photographic Exemplars on Perceptions of Issue Salience"... Yawn, yawn, right? :-)

I upgraded to windows vista yesterday after making a drive image. Once it was loaded and running the computer was sick. The garish colours of the huge icons stared at me and Outlook did not work, several other programs failed to load and told me about it. So I restored by backup. Now all is well and Vista is on the shelf.
