I've been using windows upgrades since win95 and have a Canon film scanner, flatbed scanner and camera. I have never run across any problem at all with Canon software.

I suspect this is somehow related to OEM installed OS and not a Canon requirement.

Spend $20 on a CF reader.

And never, *ever*, again buy a Canon product.  That's a completely absurd,
obnoxious, system requirement.
