Now that comment brought up the fact that Li-Ion batts are not to be left to be over discharged becuase their issues with memory of the CONTROLING electronics that assume a low battery charge... Is there a way to analyze revitalize your battery

I am
just thinking that the
camera thinks the battery is dead. I had that issue w/ my 10d and a firmware
upagrade fixed it. 
Call Canon and see what they say.
