| I have eight 500 gig external drives attached, via firewire 400, to my mac. I have never had any problem with these drives. They are inexpensive and reliable. Six are Western Digital, two are La Cie.
I bought all the Western Digitals at Costco for under $150.00 I have not gone to 1T drives yet because they were a bit too costly when I started adding all these drives. When I fill one of these and trade it out with a new one, I will definitely move up to a terabyte. Storage is cheap, buy big.
