I agree with Les. 

Buy the best you can afford since you don't want to put inferior glass in front of the lens.

There are 'slim' filters for WA lenses to eliminate or minimize vignetting.

I have seen filters literally destroyed but the lens underneath survived just fine. Use the proper hood for each one and you are in business.

My fav filters are B+W and Hoya.
