My final comment on this subject is that were I starting over I would definitely consider Nikon, in fact I did when leaving my OM-1 on the shelf, but since I have a few $$$$ tied up in EF L lenses Canon is best "for me"
New subject: There was a big camera shop in downtown Portland, CWO (?), and another smaller but seemingly more pro oriented, I seem to remember yellow and red colors on their stuff, away from downtown when I was there back around 2000 or 2001..... Are they still around?

In your D300 praise you left out two important words, "for me". Those two words prevent any further discussion or arguments.
