I am fond of the curve, too, and scanned leaves.
You can turn them into fantastic Photoshop brushes, or Gimp brushes if you want to retain the color. I went crazy with this, when I first got a scanner.

that of most other curves I have seen. Of, course, if you are not
into curves then there is not much more there for you!
