Mark,

Kombizz posted here before, and I do believe s/he was warned not to get too preachy.  His/her posts were lengthy and political, but usually did include an element of imagery.  It didn't amount to anything more than propaganda, juvenile at best.  If Kombizz is looking for unbiased critique, then the PF is the right place.  However, in my opinion, s/he should focus less on practicing English writing skills, and work on the imaging element.

Kombizz,

I really like the inclusion of traditional graphical elements.  However, all aesthetic potential, stemming from the calligraphy, the Persian figurine (though, the warrior with the spear detracts from a peaceful message), and the lotus flowers, is cast to the stones with the primary colored bubbles in the background, the seemingly random Time Magazine cover (Is this a real cover?  If so, what was the context of the article and its relationship to the Islamic Lunar New Year?), the poor choice of font for English script, and the unfortunate URL plug at the bottom of the image. An acquaintance of mine in Cairo is a graphic artist and photographer.  He often creates media elements that bridge antiquity and modern graphics, and he often includes English language elements to reach a broader audience.  He helped start a artist community called Art El Wella.  The group blog includes examples of graphics you might want to look at for inspiration.  The URL is: http://www.artellewa.blogspot.com/

Happy imaging!

Jonathan and all,

As a moderator at POPPHOTO.COM, I have dealt with this individual for over a year now and the posts start our nice enough, but eventually, he'll start posting content that most anyone would find objectionable. So much so that authorities got involved. This includes photos of militant newspapers that they like and images that even I as a photojournalist found objectionable.

Now, this list is supposed to be for photo imaging and educators, and if the topics are going to stray into political ideology and propaganda, you can let me know right now and I'll be happy to cancel my subscription. There is a time and a place for political and ideological banter, but a photo educator list isn't either of these.
