Re: [SPAM] Re: Kodak Ektagraphic Slide Projector - 5-pin remote connector?

Well, I am by no means a computer genius - but I go to school with some :)

The computer control is actually fairly simple: I am using an inexpensive ($30) USB board called the Arduino, which has pins for analog and digital I/O. I got a friendly electrical engineer to help me make a circuit with 5 relays that can be controlled by the digital pins - basically, a logical 1 trips the relay, which connects the two pins responsible for slide advancement on the projector. Logical 0 breaks the connection. Then it's all hooked up to Max/MSP, a graphical programming environment which can be used to control the Arduino.

If anybody is interested, check out www.arduino.cc for easy-to- understand walkthroughs and directions for connecting the Arduino to all sorts of gear! Now, I will stop spamming the list. :D

Jesse,

I think nails and duct tape will work for you. Sounds like a fun
project. We did "The Last Slide Show" at our gallery last Year and it
was a blast. 15 Ektagraphics going full tilt with a rat's nest of wires.

It was all manual - could have used a computer genius.

Thanks for the info, AZ - that site doesn't seem to have it, and I
tried Digikey and Mouser, but they have such a huge selection it's
like a needle in a haystack.
I think your wire-to-nails idea may be what I end up doing - I'm
doing a five-projector computer controlled setup for eba theatre, a
modern dance company in Albany, NY. Thanks again!

Jesse,
Try here or similar place:

Used to be Radio Shack had this stuff. They may still carry elect.
hobby parts on line.

I was doing a multi-slide projector project and resorted to home- made
connectors. Only two pins are needed of the five to advance the
projectors. I soldered wire to nails.

It sounds like what you are looking for is:
Kodak 25 foot (7.6m) 5 Pin Remote CE 58 Extension Cord, Cat #
140-1363 for use with all Kodak Carousel and Ektagraphic
Projectors, except models 600, 600H, S, RA 950, RA 960, and Pocket
100. This Extension Cord Extends the range of the standard 12-foot
(3.7 m) remote control unit to 37'.
I found this item liste on ebay with a starting bid of $9.99.
Good luck in your search.

I was wondering if anybody knows a part number for the 5-pin remote
control *connector* on Kodak's Ektagraphic slide projectors - just
the connector. The remote control model number is EC, or EC-2 or some
such, but I'm trying to find the plugs themselves, 5-pin male.
Anybody have any ideas? Thanks!
Jesse
