To deliver prints to clients I use several different sized boxes....some 4x6, some 5x7 and so on. these are black on the outside, white inside with varying depths.

They would probably work for you.

Steven, et al.,

I went on photo.net asking if anyone had spares they could sell, and ended
up buying 20 of them for $10.00 US. I split them with Cathy, and have
separated them based on film type (E-6, D-76, C-41, paper); since I shoot
enormous amounts in the field, and of more than one type at a time, I have
engraved codes into the covers of each box so in a changing bag, I know
which is which by feel, my own personal version of Braille.

For higher capacity, I imagine you could shake down a few custom printing
labs for empty b/w paper boxes (i.e. 4x6); some of these come in pretty
large sizes, and can hold quite a bit of acetate!

I have found the plastic "paper safes" to be bulky at best, and transporting
film in the holders is kind of a waste of equipment.

As for getting film boxes from retailers, that seems like an expensive way
to go, especially when you get them free with a purchase of film (you just
get the box later)...

Actually, Herschel, the only thing wrong with old film boxes is my
forgetting to make a note to the lab to return my boxes. LOL! I could no
longer find any spare boxes at home, so when I was at the lab today buying
more 35mm film I asked if they had any empty boxes I might have. They did,
so my "crisis" is over. My curiosity was piqued about what alternatives some
"more experienced" sheet film users had come up with. Consider it more of a
survey rather than a problem needing a solution. Thank you, Herschel.

What's wrong with old film boxes? I used them for years.

Do any of you current and former sheet film users have any suggestions for
light safe pouches for placing exposed, unprocessed 4x5 sheet film? I am
thinking of this as an alternative to old film boxes, or handing my film
holders to my lab. I have done some scrounging on eBay and B&H for something
to meet this desire, but haven't found anything yet. Thanks!
