I make my A3 prints on an elderly but not much used 1290 with Inkrite replacement inks. Film A3 prints were done by Bonusprint who were not, of course pro printers. Film was usually Fujifilm, purchased and used up to around 2000

Are your film prints that you're comparing to made to comparable
standards, by an equally good printer (that's the person doing the
printing)? And are they from modern film, or from decades old film? I
strongly suspect that my low opinion of slower films is skewed by not
having done much with the modern versions.
