Excellent bird portrait; I´m particularly
impressed with the detail that the beak with the
glint at its tip is so well placed against a
good background. That beak means BUSINESS, no
mistake about that!
That stone frog is a fun touch.
Again, I´d do some burning-in (this seems to be
my recurring theme today): lower left quarter
(with due care of the tail); also the near rim
of the bird bath.
thanks for the observation....I'm not very
proficient with the burn tool but I went back to
the image and had some luck toning that area down
using Hue/Saturation

That bird only has one foot!!!!!. Boy, Jim.
You are so lucky. First you have the bird, then
you're home when it comes visiting, then you
happen to have the equipment, and to top things
off you have the gear set up in the right place
and the bird sticks around long enough to get
sharp. Pretty nice pic, there.
thanks Emily...you're the second person to
notice the one-legged effect, good
observation....the other leg is there, it's just
perfectly aligned with the one you see....luck
does play a part in a photo like this as any
nature photographer will attest...but I probably
have better opportunities than most as my house
is built on a hill and the oak trees come right
up through my deck....we get a lot of birds here
and I try to be ready to photograph them....

Raptor: A beautiful bird and the photograph
shows lots of detail in the feathers and the
bird's eye. Some distraction from the red
object in the background, but you've got to work
with what you have. As someone else mentioned -
the frog adds to the interest of the photograph
thank you, Marilyn....that red object is a
flower pot hanging over the deck railing.....I
left it in rather than crop it out as it's
reflected in the bird bath...I also though it
played off the bird's red eye....appreciate your
input....
my gratitude to all who commented,
