Re: Large/medium format lenses on 35mm

I have done what Tim proposes but by adapting a large format lens to a bellows designed for use on the 35mm camera that I have. Even enlarging lenses can easily be adapted to the front standard of most bellows. It is sometimes a cheap way to get reasonably performing long focal length lenses.

Sometimes medium and large format lenses are not designed to be as sharp as lenses intended for use on a 35mm camera since large format films normally are not enlarged as much as 35mm films are.

Hi Tim,

I think that in theory, this can be done, but I have to ask- why would you really want to do this? It seems to me that the savings on the lens would be negated by the HIGH cost of a medium format bellows, which you'd have to find a step-down ring for the 35mm body. To me, it seems like it would be a lot less costly and trouble to get a 35mm bellows and use 35mm lenses.

Cordially,
