Been thinking of new equipment too. I looked at G7 and S10 and they look like top choices. What bothers me is their price range is close to some of the new DSLR's. I'm thinking I should just jump from PS to low-end DSLR. I'm favoring light-weight, non-pro grade at this point. I'm told Canon shows their new stuff in March about when I come out of hibernation. The big advantage of the G7 for me (and similar cameras) is the small size, even compared to the low-end dSLRs. It's slightly too big for my pocket, but it is small compact and excellent quality. Otherwise I might have bought a D40, except it wasn't available at the time. And even now I think the G7 has some advantages - especially the movie mode, the macro (down to 1 cm) and it's very inobtrusive. It hides under my jacket without any problem, doesn't get in the way when I'm driving etc.
