Following is an email from the Central Asian Archaeology Group, which is asking for photo equipment. I decided to forward it to this forum, for those who might be able to help. The sender does not specify the kind of photo equipment he needs, so I guess it's best to ask him directly. Our organization -- the Heritage Conservation Advocates (http://heritage.elizaga.net) cannot help him because we don't have sufficient equipment ourselves.

Dear Sir and Madam,

I would be sincerely glad if you are interested in cooperation with our Group but firs let me to introduce myself.

I am a director of the Central Asia Archeological Group (CAAG), with headquarters in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The Central Asia Archaeological Group (www.caag.uz) is a non-governmental and non-profit-making organization, established to promote communication and partnerships between the foremost progressive specialists in the field of history and archaeology research in Central Asia.

The Group is a member of ALPSP (The Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers) and works in many fields: culture, art, history, archaeology, and it also deals with projects for protecting historical heritage, national monuments of culture and nature, their research and propaganda, aid to public organizations in seeking works of art, archival sources, other monuments of history and culture, national reliquiae (which are abroad now) and their repatriation. The Group assists development and strengthening of material basis of culture, creation of new institutions of culture (museums, libraries, clubs, exhibitions and so on). It assists in rendering of financial, moral and legal help for productive initiatives and beginnings of community directing to increase of cultural heritage, to keeping and developing of national traditions, home crafts, art, and ceremonies of corresponding regions. The Group assists subsequent development of amateur creation, amateur's associations and other kinds of cultural activities, helps to realize works of art, helps in building of infrastructure for tourist business, in organizing of new tourist routes.

In course of our work we were able to gather huge quantity of unique and invaluable information about exiting and sometimes mysterious history of this region. In the same time hundreds of questions are still unsolved and big quantity of memorials, which save inestimable knowledge are destroying. Unique historical memorials with their significant meaning for world?s history are leaving us forever.

For a very long period we have been applying to all possible local scientific and not scientific, government and non-government organizations to attract somebody?s attention to this catastrophic situation. But every body, first of all think only about momentary profit. And we decided to attract world?s attention. We began to work with some archaeological organizations in USA and UK such as Archaeology Magazine (USA), Current World Archaeology Magazine (UK), Primitive Archer (USA), The Glade Magazine (UK), Silk Road Society (UK) and with some other with which our cooperation now in progress too. All small fees, which we have from publishing articles, are completely going to the archaeological investigations.

At the same time, understanding that information about archeology and history of Central Asia is very limited and many and many scientists around the world are very interested in getting more data from this region we have decided to start publishing of a new and unique for this region scientific magazine ?EPOCH? by our own means. However, publishing of such colorful edition needs professional photo equipment and unfortunately we are not able to buy such equipment by ourselves. So, we apply to you in hope that you will be able to support us in this direction. It is very sad that local organizations do not interested in studding own history but we scientists try to do what we can to save our heritage for future generations and we very much hope for your support as support of colleagues in general!

I am applying to your organization in hope to find understanding and support in such valuable and important activity! However, I understand that this is not your specification but there is no local organization which will be interested in supporting us as our country is in ?very poor condition? and science in whole stands on the last place in country?s prerogatives.
From our side we would be very happy to assist you in any direction which is connected with the history and archaeology of Central Asia.

I am ready to provide you by any information you need!
With big interest and hope we look forward to hearing from you soon!

Yours sincerely,
Denis Karasyov

P.S.

If you are not able to help us in above mentioned direction I would be sincerely glad to assist you in any direction which is connected with the history and archaeology of Central Asia to earn money for buying such equipment for our Group.
For many years I have been working with several foreign organizations around the world such as the Archaeology Magazine (USA), Current World Archaeology (UK), Primitive Archer (USA) and the Traditional Bogenschiessen (Germany), Silk Road Society (UK). I have extensive field experience and have been in cooperation with many different organizations. This has led to me obtaining excellent skills in field research and photography. Throughout I have retained absolute independence from any government bodies and consequently I now have numerous contacts in different spheres.
Many scientific and non-scientific organizations around the world are currently interested in Central Asia. On this basis I would be very interested in inviting you to cooperate with me on your future research projects. Some of my work is focused in the following directions:

Gathering information on the history, archaeology, sociology, religion, geography, ethnography and art of Central Asia.
Photographic fixation of any architectural, historical or archaeological memorials in Central Asian region (including any artifacts or artwork)
Research from the archives of different libraries of Central Asia
Organized trips to any regions of Central Asia (including remote and inaccessible places).
Consultation on any of above mentioned spheres.

Furthermore, using my contacts, I would be very interested in cooperating with you on any other topic, which has not already been mentioned.

Please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss any of the above. I look forward to hearing from you soon with any suggestions on our possible cooperation.
