Well, it seems at the University level, they're seeing a necessity for computerized photographers to have a foundation in wet line photography to do well.  And, to understand what the machine does, it is a necessary learning experinece to have the tools of wet line photography.  Makes sense.

That's only because they are not having to earn a living with their
photography yet ;-)
