Ok! This will probably quickly turn into a sharpness discussion ... I'm trying to evaluate options toward making intelligent next equipment purchases. I'm focusing currently on Event photography with lots of candids. That being said, the light isn't all that great, I'm usually hand-holding, and usually have to do some significant cropping to get a final image. So, I need fast, sharp equipment. (and since I'm walking around trying to grab shots, I prefer zooms also). So, how do the Canon L series compare? Which ones are the 'best'? Do you need 3 different lens' or can one of the 'super zooms' do the same (even if it's the same price as 3 lens put together). I interested in real life usage experiences. Other brands? And for another wrinkle: to be able to grab the shots, do the crops, and print big - what's the real world balancing act between fast/sharp lens and camera's with big ISO ratings and large megapixels? i.e. has anyone done an enlargement comparison between a 6 megapixel camera with a really good lens and a 12 megapixel with a standard lens? -----Original Message----- From: Bob [mailto:w8imo@xxxxxxxx] Sent: Monday, June 26, 2006 8:04 PM To: List for Photo/Imaging Educators - Professionals - Students Subject: Re: Offline Canon Lens discussion West, Jeff K wrote: >Anyone who uses Canon and would be willing to share personal >experiences regarding len comparisons offline via email (so as not to >bore the group) I would appreciate it. > > > What kind of photography are you doing? That will help with discussions of various lenses. And as someone else said, this is a photographic forum so why not here?
