The 1800 uses Ultra Chrome Ink
 
Your printer uses Durabrite.

I been thing about getting the Epson R1800 too. It is $491.95 at Amazon.com. I have an all in one desk top machine that uses Durabrite pigment inks ( 4 colors) and it does fine with normal photos that don't have light or large transitional tones. It prints well on HWM matte paper  (105 light-fast Wilhelm years) but doesn't print well on glossy papers.
