All your adjustment items are accessible throught the Window item in the menu bar.

If your monitor is big enough you can just pull them down into long/narrow shape so you can access them without closing them

If you need to use a tool on a layer other than the one on top, just go to Window>Layers and click on the layer that actually has the thing you want to clone out.

The same applies to any action on any layer, of course, but sometimes when there are lots of layers you have to sort of work a bit to figure out which layer the thing is on.

Especially important with the move tool - to keep track of which layer you're in so you don't accidentally move something that was set. If you do you can always use Undo (what is it in PC speak? Ctrl-Z?) to undo. Then go and get to the right layer for the move.
