Alan,
What is your guess on the camera/lens system he is using? He's got a tremendous angle of view without much perceptible vignetting, so I would expect that he's using either a center filter or a lens that flips around. It reminds me of some of the wide-angle pinhole camera images that I make.

Guy,

I've been enthusiastically forwarding Taras's URL to a lot of friends.
It would be good to hear from him on the list.

How to un subscribe from lists should be part of the core curriculum in
the school of life.
I guess there is no way on PF system to have info on the tag line.

Hi coleagues,

I just visited Seth's portfolio.
http://www.sethtaras.com

There are some truly magnificient pictures. So many that I can't point to anyone that I like best, for fear of diminishing the value of another one.

This work is reminiscent of Jacques-Henry Lartigue's work in the 6x13
format, back in the early 1900's, documenting simple scenes of the world
around him, his friends, family, etc..., in a very effective and powerful
way.

I like the use the wide-angle panoramic format for this kind of images
because it pushes the limits of ordinary peripheric vision far out of the
normal range. Seth's lens & camera system has a really effective way of
managing distortion but I think that Seth has a fantastic control over the
camera can offer to create very strong images.

Does anybody know what kind of camera/lens he uses?

Don't miss the web site of Daniel Taras referenced in the links page.

There is no indication of the relationship between the two photographers but he certainly knows what to do with a camera. There is a fantastic gallery
of pictures of the Katrina Hurricane: look for the picture of the Teddy
Bear...

Lot's to learn from.

Best regards,

Guy
