They don't like salt water, although even then that's only a 50% 
chance.  I lost one of two when I went overboard with them last fall. 
I've heard tell that they go through a laundry just fine, or at least 
one person on one of my photo lists had one do that and was able to 
retrieve the images on the card.

I'd make sure they're good and dry, however, before putting them in a camera.
