It is all about demand and competition. I use to shoot Kodachrome (mostly 64) when ever I could but as Ektachrome went from a pretty grainy low grade film to a high grade film and with the need to process it quicklly for clients (and not being in a large city) I shot more and more Ektachrome.  But even now I can go back to full body nudes I shot on 35mm Kodachrome in 1990 and blowup just the face area and have a quality enlargement. Kodachrome was great film but without enough demand for it Kodachrome is history.
