Greetings from Norfolk UK I have always been told that if you cannot say something nice about a thing, then shut up. This does not preclude criticism, suggesting improvements, or suggesting major changes. Criticism should, and must in my opinion, be practical and helpful to the person responsible for the item being submitted for comment. Of late, commenting on the pictures submitted to the forum has been educational to me, it has made me look at each picture and study it, analysing it, and trying (and failing in some cases) to understand what the author was trying to say through the picture. I think that commenting on the pictures will eventually improve my photography, by making me look more closely, and seeing new pictures. If we cannot learn from others we are not going to get far.
