I save every thing as RAW and convert each time something is ordered, the
only exceptions to this are landscape photos that I have worked on to get
them how I want them in which case I save that file as a TIFF, the second is
if I make changes to a photo from say a wedding that I want each reprint to
be the same such as if I put a foggy edge on the photo to obscure the
background and focus on the bride and groom, and if I make a B&W from a
color file, or a B&W/color mix in the same photo, these are also saved as
TIFFs. Third if I have had to do extreme retouching due to blemishes or some
unforeseen thing, then again saved as TIFFs, generally I only save in layers
if it is for something like wedding announcements which could need to be
edited before final approval by the couple, or mothers ( in most cases )

But even if you send your flattened files to printers you retain an
UNflattened version as a .psd or .tif or whatever?
Don't you?
I do, but only for important stuff. The rest goes down as jpgs.
