The PhotoForum members' gallery/exhibit space was updated MAY 07 2005. Authors
with work now on display at http://www.rit.edu/~andpph/gallery.html include:

Jeff Spirer - Prayer

Interesting metallic effect of the b&w makes the people even more otherworldly than all that muscle would make them anyway to me. The perspective is really perfect for the situation, I think.

Christopher Strevens - Conversation 3

The conversers are too far to the left, so far that only the caption causes one to experience the conversation as the point of the image. The artsy filter isn't too objectionable this time, however.

Howard Leigh -

over the years I've come to the conclusion that the rule of thirds is especially valuable with this situation. I like the reflection, but don't like the bald sky and would have cut off a bunch on the left side and some large part of the tree in an effort to escape the horizon in the middle effect. Also, perhaps it was that dark a day when you took the shot, but I think it would be improved by brightening.

Gary M. Thomas - Monet's Garden - Giverney

Another horizon in the middle and way too much data. Nothing particularly Monet-ish about it to me - just another stream with trees and waterlilies.

Achal Pashine - Stanford University main quad

Hmm. Lots kinda nice about this. I like the sky, but am uncomfortable with the imbalance between the trees. I think there's too much space on the right side, that's it, and the tree on the far left is a bit too crowded. And it might have been nice to have a bit more detail in the buildings on either side of the arch.

WRGill - Bengal Tiger

A vertical, if ever I saw one. Too much green stuff on either side. Crop it if it didn't get shot as vertical in this case. Also just a touch more catchlight in the eyes would have been nice.

Bob Talbot - White

Yeah, Bob. We all know about your fixation with the less savory side of life but really... And it's not even really white.

!

Jim Davis - First Loon

Lovely. Would be nicer with less around it on the bottom. Heard one the other morning, but never seen one yet.

Richard Wrigley - The Old Mill

Would be OK if it were level and if the green were more natural color on my monitor and if there weren't dead space on the left side and if that tree didn't obscure the right side of the building. Also, a 300K file is kinda small so if you compressed that you really lost a lot. I'm sure a nice 12M file would have lots of detail in the stonework that wouldn't get lost in the jpegging.

Margaret Lucas - hard to port

I don't see the "hard" although I see the port. Even levelling the image would not convey _hard_ to port. It's nice and sharp and the colors are spicy. Complicated situation. I think I'd prefer the light on the inflatable rather than on the life ring. Peoples' eyes will always go to red, so getting the light on the blue would balance it. That coast is always foggy like that too, which is kind of a shame here - the snow capped mountain loses impact.

One takes the shots one can get in these situations.

Thanks to all for all the efforts.
