Hi Marilyn,

I grew up watching my dad take family photographs. He spent money on all sorts of equipment and for a time, developed his own film. When I was nine, I met my mother's dad for the first time. He made a living from photography. He traveled door to door making family portraits, black and white, and would sometimes paint them with oil paints. When I was 13, my god-parents sent me a camera as an 8th grade graduation gift. One might feel I was born into photography. Perhaps.

>From the very first time I used my new camera I fell in love with photography. I wanted to capture everything on film. Time passes. All those moments that pass can never be relived except in memory, unless it is captured. And that was my hook. Capturing moments in time that would be forgotten if not for that image permanently etched on film and transferred to paper. Sometimes those images become damaged or may fade a bit over time, but they are always there. All my grandparents and both my parents are gone now. All my children are grown (one has passed away). But anytime I need them, I have them in photographs.

I can record time and memories in pictures. It is one of my most favored loves. Thank you for this question. I'm interested in the thoughts of others as well.
