Problems retrieving D70 images from Lexar CF card

Allo allo,

BACKGROUND: I was using me D70 last week to shoot some candids at a wedding. Since I'd run out of space on my Sandisk Ultras I popped in a this Lexar 256MB card that is normally resident in a Coolpix 4500 and took some pix.

Every now and then the camera would lock up saying "CHA" (or tchah!) and would not write the frame to disk. No problem, they're only fun pix, and as long as it tells me it should be ok, i thought.

PROBLEM: Only, when I get back home to download the disk, quite a few of the shots (about 30 in all) were simply not readable on the computer. The filesize is right, but I suspect the header is corrupt.

Wierd thing is that if I actually put the card in the Coolpix, it is able to display a thumbnail of the images (most of them anyway), but if you try and open it full-size (or connect the coolpix to a laptop). it says "No image data" or simliar...

Other images display just fine on the Coolpix, so it quite clearly can handle the larger filesize of the D70.

	ANSWERS / SUGGESTIONS anyone?

Now that I know these images _are_ on the card and readable, I'm really keen to try and get them out. Like I said, they're not critical pix, so I'm not keen to spend money on this instance.

BTW, I've seen the same lexar do the same thing with an S3 Pro too (the CHA error), but it works flawlessly in the Coolpix.

Best regards,
Deen
